A Taste of The Krisis Kids

Check out the new single from Identity Krisis’ new EP

Thursday is Here….

Been a while (read: forever) since I’ve brought a post here to the UNDGRD hq. I come back bearing late night gifts though. Toronto-based and rising indie R&B singer Abel Tesfaye aka THE WEEKND has released his much anticipated follow up to his previous House of Balloons mixtape, entitled Thursday (<–click the day for link). With a lot of us going back to school in the next week or so, I say this is the perfect album to get ready for the Autumn season. Keep an eye on the horizon for Tesfaye’s next project, the last of this here trilogy: Echoes of Silence….

The Traveler’s Guide to Recent Kanye

Again, props go to Missinfo for corralling all of Kanye’s recent work. Kanye has been working on some straight FIYAAAAAH lately. I have to say, I’m feeling it all. He’s dropping some crazy stuff with some crazy guest lines too. This is why I love Fall. It brings out the best in people.

Sloppy Sundays

It’s been kind of rainy in my part of the world for the last couple of days which I believe has attributed to my laziness this weekend. Then again, it’s not good to be all work and no play. All that work has been keeping me from refreshing my iPod as much as I should but a nice rainy Sunday gives me the time I need to acquire all of the things I’ve been missing. Props to Missinfo. Below you will find (fairly) new music from Game, Ne-Yo, Juelz and more.

“XXXO” Video

May I present to you the visual for “XXXO” off of M.I.A.’s recent third album. I was excited when I heard that a video was coming for “XXXO”, seeing that “XXXO”  is my favorite song off of the album. The video goes right along with the album’s overall theme of hyper-connectivity and the social networking age, and zeros in on the theme of love in the internet age by showcasing a super-sensual version of M.I.A amongst shots of youtube loading bars, assorted flowers associated with affection, and graphics reminiscent of Myspace. Some cultural cues from M.I.A.’s home land of Sri-Lanka make an appearance as well such as various instances of what I assume is Tamil Script. The video is simple , nothing too special, but that super-sensual version of M.I.A. is all I need to make this video ones of my favorite of the year so far.

Got some new Curren$y fresh off the press. Spitta X Smoke DZA “Nothing but us”, accompanied by those moving pictures the kids love these days, and Curren$y killing “Hard in Da Paint”. Enjoy both with the appropriate illegal substances.

Queen of the Hill

I’m not going to take this space to talk about Lauryn Hill’s checkered recent past. You could look at her musical hiatus from a hundred different angles, analyzing who, what, when , where, and why, but the bottom line is her fans have been waiting patiently for new music. That wait might  be over with this newly released track called “Repercussions”. I don’t know if the track is new or old, but lets hope that this is a sign of more good things to come.
